BBoy Turbulence: A Novel
I’m writing a serialized novel that I’m releasing on Apple Podcasts, spoken chapter by spoken chapter. It’s called “BBoy Turbulence,” and it’s about a 7th grader who develops a secret identity that propels him through middle school. Half-memoir, half-superhero story, it’s about confusion, formation of identity, and, of course, breakdancing. Listen to the first episode here.
In the summer of 2019, I wrote a one-person show that premiered in the Hollywood Fringe Festival. TobinCon starts as a comedy show about internet con men (hence the “Con”), then transforms into something much darker and personal as it goes on.
It’s about the costs of satire and parody in the internet age, but also about the things that can combat alienation.
It won both the Pick of The Fringe award and the Hollywood Fringe Encore Producer’s Award.
In the Winter of 2019, I wrote and directed a sketch comedy pilot that I also appeared in. It’s called “Man Alone.” It won the Best Actor Prize at the 2019 LA Comedy Festival, and has been featured in other film festivals around the country. Here’s the trailer:
